Giant Underwater Adventure: Scuba Dive Experience

A half-day first scuba dive off Greencastle, where the Mournes meet the sea

Beneath the rugged shores of Greencastle, where the Mourne Mountains sweep down to the sea, lies a world of legend waiting to be explored. Inspired by the myths and folklore of this ancient coast, the Giant Underwater Adventure invites you to take your first breath underwater and see the sea like never before.

You are guided by Dain McParland and a team who know the tales of selkies, sea giants and lost kingdoms. In this half-day experience you learn the essential skills to dive down to 12 metres. You do a skills session first, then head out on a guided coastal dive.

How it works

  1. Welcome & briefing
Meet the team at Greencastle Shore, go through the medical questionnaire and get to know your equipment.
  2. Dive 1: confined skills session
In calm, shallow water, learn and practise the essential skills of scuba diving.
  3. Dive 2: guided coastal dive
Head out along the coast with your guide, down to a maximum of 12 metres, and explore the reef and its marine life.
  4. Debrief
Warm up, log your first dive and talk about where your diving can go next.
